Polar FT4 Best purchase I've ever made
This polar watch is perfect! It's comfortable & easy to use. I dont know why I waited so long to buy one.
Polar FT4 Great HRM!
I have recommended this HRM to quite a few other people! It is great! It has never lost my HR since I got it but I do use the Buh-Bump cream every time I use it. You can't go wrong with this one.
Polar FT4 Does the job!
This is a great entry level heart rate monitor. It is easy to setup and use and does the job of displaying the heart rate and calories burnt. It also tells you how long you were in the fat burning zone. Recommended for those looking for the base features.

Polar FT4 has great customer service!
Polar FT4 has great customer service!
I absolutely love this product! The HRM is dead on - I have manually taken my pulse and compared it with what is being recorded and it has been exactly the same every single time. I love the feature to beep when you are below/above your target heart rate.
and POLAR has excellent customer service. the strap that came with the device was a little big on me but I called the company and they sent me out a smaller strap free of charge.

Polar FT4 good basic monitor.
Polar FT4 good basic monitor.
i got the silver/black men's version to replace an old vetta monitor that was designed for bicycle use. i chose this polar because i mainly wanted a device that would display and track the range of heart rate during my workouts. it was easy to set up and i had used it for a few weeks before reading the instructions. here are a few things i learned when i finally rtfm.
1. strap (without transmitter) should be rinsed with water after every use and dried with a soft towel. it is also recommended to machine wash the strap after every five uses (no bleach or fabric softener, do not soak, spin-dry (i think they meant machine dried) or dry clean) using 40c/104f water in a washing pouch. i am assuming that it should be dried with a soft towel after washing. i am guessing those who state that the monitor stopped working for them did not do this and the dried minerals from their sweat interfered with the strap picking up a pulse (just a guess on my part).
2. watch is water resistant as long as buttons are not pressed under water. the instructions indicate that there are three different levels of water resistance and to check the back of the watch to see if it is either a) water resistant (resists splashes, sweat, raindrops, etc) b) water resistant to 30m/50m or c) water resistant to 100m. the back of my watch has no indication, but the transmitter says it is resistant to 30m.
3. while using the heart rate monitor, if you touch the watch to the transmitter, the display will change from displaying heart rate info to the clock (and vice versa). they call this 'hearttouch' and i believe this function can be disabled. i had wondered why the monitor occasionally changed what was displayed - an 'aha!' moment for me.
4. transmitter should be removed from strap after use to conserve battery life. maybe people who complained about short battery life never did this?
the skin contacts on the strap are woven into the fabric so it is much more comfortable than the hard plastic contacts i was used to. i have a 42" chest and i use the strap fully extended. those with bigger chests may find the strap too tight.
if you are looking for a simple heart rate monitor, i would gladly recommend this one.

Polar FT4 Great HRM!
Polar FT4 Great HRM!
Great tool to have if you are in need of keeping track of your heart rate and calories burned. Prior to getting this I'd go off the calories listed on my treadmill which I knew were not accurate. With the Polar FT4, I can now track my progress more efficiently. Great product, I highly recommend!
Polar FT4 Exactly what I needed.
After joining a fitness site - I kept hearing how important it was to keep track of your heart rate. I figured the estimates were good enough. BOY was I wrong!?!
Maybe it's because I am 6'4, but the machines at the gym were way off. I use my HRM all the time now! During my fitness classes, strength training, and on the machines at the gym. Also perfect for runs and walking around outside. At first I was weary of the chest strap, but once you put it on - after a min or two you forget that it's on. I wear a compression shirt when I run - and it's barely noticeable.
I wouldn't say the watch is very fashionable for everyday wear - but for the purpose of keeping up with my heart rate and how many calories I have burned - it's awesome!
I am also now the mascot of the fitness classes. The ladies in there do know that I burn more calories because I am a guy and tall - but they are excited to see how many calories I have burned so they can guesstimate what they burned themselves. Anyone into fitness - in the gym or out - I would suggest this product!
It's only been 3 weeks - but I will never go without! I would definitely purchase another one after the 2 year warranty runs out - or even upgrade to a model that does more. Best 90 bucks I have spent, in terms of fitness/working out!

Polar FT4 Heart Rate Monitor Learning the 'Zone'
Polar FT4 Heart Rate Monitor Learning the 'Zone'
I purchased this after diligently working out for more than a year at least three days a week. I was leaving the gym tired and sweaty but it seemed things had plateaued. I decided on this watch because of the reviews, price, and the consumer-replaceable battery.
It arrived in the mail, I set it up in less than five minutes, and set out to the gym. I found out I was way over-doing it. Keeping my heart rate within optimum range was interesting - I had to actually slow down and reduce the levels on my normal machines. I was shocked to discover that keeping my HR in the zone burned more calories per hour (about 360 per 45 minutes), made me sweat more, and increased my stamina.
I haven't had any problems with the watch - so far, and have taken care of it per the instructions. I bought a small mesh garment bag that I throw it in after workouts (and after wiping it off) and it seems to air dry just fine. I was a little concerned about it being so wet post-workouts, but it hasn't seemed to affect it (yet).
I am training for a 10k and look forward to using this outside once the weather breaks.

Polar FT4 Heart Rate Monitor LOVE IT! Should have bought one sooner!
Polar FT4 Heart Rate Monitor LOVE IT! Should have bought one sooner!
I am a short woman and never trust the machines at the gym to determine my calories burned or heart rate. I have been using my FT4 for about 3 months now and LOVE IT! I have never had a problem. It finds my heart rate and away we go! I love that it will save your workouts for you. It is such a plus to have your own personal calorie and heart rate numbers. I really wish I would have bought one sooner! Very happy customer!
