Polar FT4 Heart Rate Monitor Learning the 'Zone'
I purchased this after diligently working out for more than a year at least three days a week. I was leaving the gym tired and sweaty but it seemed things had plateaued. I decided on this watch because of the reviews, price, and the consumer-replaceable battery.
It arrived in the mail, I set it up in less than five minutes, and set out to the gym. I found out I was way over-doing it. Keeping my heart rate within optimum range was interesting - I had to actually slow down and reduce the levels on my normal machines. I was shocked to discover that keeping my HR in the zone burned more calories per hour (about 360 per 45 minutes), made me sweat more, and increased my stamina.
I haven't had any problems with the watch - so far, and have taken care of it per the instructions. I bought a small mesh garment bag that I throw it in after workouts (and after wiping it off) and it seems to air dry just fine. I was a little concerned about it being so wet post-workouts, but it hasn't seemed to affect it (yet).
I am training for a 10k and look forward to using this outside once the weather breaks.
